What to Bring to Your Appointment
To ensure a smooth visit, please bring the following:
- A valid photo ID
- Any relevant medical records or previous eye surgery details
- A list of current medications and allergies
- Sunglasses (your eyes may be sensitive after dilation)
Your exam will typically take 1 to 1.5 hours. If you wear contact lenses, please follow the guidelines below to allow for the most accurate evaluation.
Contact Lens Protocol
Contact lenses can temporarily alter the shape of your cornea, affecting your evaluation for vision correction. To ensure precise measurements, you’ll need to leave your contacts out for:
- Soft lenses: At least 3-5 days before your exam
- Hard lenses: At least 2 weeks before your exam
Fees and Payment Information
We are transparent about our fees so you can plan accordingly.
- Complimentary Initial Consultation: If you proceed with your procedure within 90 days of your consultation, the exam fee will be applied toward your surgery.
- Re-Exam Fee: If more than 90 days have passed since your initial exam and you choose to return for another evaluation, a $100 re-exam fee will apply.
- Previous Refractive Surgery Exam: Patients who have had previous LASIK, PRK, or another vision correction procedure in one or both eyes will require an additional evaluation. The fee for this exam is $200.
What to Expect During Your Exam
Your comprehensive eye exam includes a series of tests to evaluate your vision and determine if you’re a good candidate for LASIK or another vision correction procedure. Plan to spend about 1 to 1.5 hours in our office.
As part of the evaluation, your eyes may be dilated to allow for a thorough examination of your eye health. Dilation can cause temporary light sensitivity and blurred near vision for several hours, so you may want to bring sunglasses and arrange for transportation if needed.
