Erika Spiak, COE, COA

Erika’s journey in the eye care industry began after completing her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. Setting a strong foundation for her career she initially started in ophthalmology as a technician where she earned her Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification. Her role as a technician quickly evolved, into taking on leadership positions such as lead technician/surgical tech, Compliance Officer, and Refractive Manager. These roles allowed her to develop a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of ophthalmic care and management before taking on her current role and certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Executive (COE) .

The founding of Skyline LASIK by Dr. Matthew Chang on January 1, 2020, marked a significant milestone in Erika’s career. This venture was born from a shared vision to establish a practice centered around the patient’s experience with refractive surgery, distinct from the conventional approach of general practices. As Director of Operations, Erika’s responsibilities span the entire business spectrum, from finances and human resources to day-to-day operations and marketing, showcasing her multifaceted skill set and dedication to the practice’s success.

Erika’s passion for her role is deeply rooted in a personal commitment to enhancing patients’ lives through improved vision. She is driven by the desire to offer an exceptional patient experience, emphasizing education and personalized care over volume. The joy she finds in witnessing patients see clearly for the first time after surgery is a testament to the profound impact of her work.

When she is not in the office, Erika is busy caring for her 4 dogs, 2 cats and fish. She also enjoys exploring the beauty of Colorado Springs through hiking and other outdoor activities.
