Brett Nelson, MD
Dr. Brett Nelson is a board certified ophthalmologist with more than 20 years of experience in cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Nelson has extensive expertise in the field of laser vision correction and refractive eye surgery.
Dr. Nelson earned his Bachelor of Science in math and physics at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Nelson completed his residency training in ophthalmology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He served as the Assistant Chief of Ophthalmology at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, and the Chief of Ophthalmology at Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, Colorado.
Among many other humanitarian missions, Dr. Nelson received Army Commendation Medals for his involvement in Operation Ears, Eyes, and Smiles in Bogra, Bangladesh, as well as his role in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He applies his extensive experience working with a wide variety of patients to every uniquely challenging vision case with which he is presented.
Dr. Nelson is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. When not performing LASIK, Dr. Nelson enjoys back country skiing, biking and rock climbing with friends and family.
