PRK: See what the Hype is all about!
Find Out if PRK is Right for You!What is PRK?
PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) is a laser refractive procedure that can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. The goal with PRK is to reshape your corneal tissue so light entering the eyes will focus on your retina (the back of your eye) for clear vision. The procedure is virtually painless, and most patients achieve 20/20 vision or better, so they no longer need glasses or contact lenses. Find out if this procedure is right for your eyes.

Ideal Candidates for PRK:
- 18-59 years old
- Suffer from nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism
- Patients who are ineligible for LASIK due to thin corneas
- Stable refraction with healthy eyes
- Suffer from dry eyes
- Participate in sports like MMA/Boxing
- Seeking an alternative solution to glasses or contact lenses
- Realistic expectations

What to Expect During PRK
The PRK procedure is performed in our office. First, we administer an oral relaxing medication and anesthetic eye drops to numb your eyes. The surgeon then gently removes the thin layer of your corneal tissue (the epithelium). The excimer laser will then reshape the underlying corneal tissue based on the unique hills and valleys of your eyes. A protective bandage contact lens is placed on your eye for rapid healing and comfort.
